A lorry transporting about six tonnes of stale bread recently overturned in
Wakefield, causing severe indigestion… oops, sorry, causing severe
congestion.

It happened at the Newton Hill roundabout on the A650 – one of the main
routes into the city.

The driver had to be taken to hospital to be checked over.

Emergency services bought in heavy lifting equipment to put the lorry back
on its wheels, but was too badly damaged to be driven off.

The road was closed until after lunchtime, causing bad congestion in the
area for several hours.
